You know what is dangerous? Bears!
December 7, 2011
I have no love for bears. And neither does my dog:
We came upon this lovely, albeit random, Christmas scene – gingerbread people, Santa, and a statue of a bear.
The Santa and wire-frame reindeer didn’t flummox her, but she thought the bear was real. She approached it slowly, put her head down, stretched out her neck, froze.
After a minute she gave an all-four-foot jump and a mighty WOOF as if to scare the bear out of its stupor.
I had to kind of drag her away. Otherwise, we would probably still be there, protecting the neighborhood from bears.

Goldie takes no chances on random bear attacks. I like that about her.
She knows my stance on bears.
A few years back, my neighbor had a halloween decoration that looked like the silhouette of a cat, with marbles for eyes. Our dog was convinced it was an actual cat, and would stalk it and bark at it incessantly, for the entire month+ that is was there. Also, freaks out every time at the deer statue in a yard near my parents’ house. That deer has been standing there, taunting her, for years at this point.
That’s the thing with enemies. They can lay in wait for a looooong time. That’s why they are so dangerous! Good on your dog.
My kid would have done the same thing.
Bark and all.
LOL Kelley
