Thoughts in 10 minutes of yoga
November 24, 2015
My friend Laurie White started doing online yoga classes at YogaGlo. She, like me, finds herself needing to economize and yoga is expensive. $18 per month sounds good.
There’s also the added bonus of not having to show up somewhere in form fitting clothing at a time when I feel like the Graf Zeppelin.
I joined up and looked through classes. Picked out a 15 minute back tune-up. Hey, no one ever accused me of being over-ambitious.
Here are my thoughts in the first 10 minutes:
- How do I see the screen if I am lying on the floor and this is on my computer?
- Dog, get off me.
- This guy seems like a really good teacher.
- This is great.
- Man, I have missed yoga.
- Hey, I’m still pretty flexible in certain ways.
- I’m going to do this every single day.
- This is awesome.
- WHERE do I put my foot? Ha, no.
- Whoa, balance. Ooops.
- Dog, get off me.
- I…um…I don’t think I can do this.
- Whoa, wobble!
- Maybe I should take a short break.
- One more minute.
- DOG!
- No, I have to stop. Just for a second.
- Oh, are my sweet potatoes burning?

Don’t worry. I saved my class. For later.

Because of arthritis, I am restricted in what activities I can do. I have recently purchased a DVD on ‘armchair yoga’, which is exactly as it sounds. You sit on a chair to practice the movements. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes.
I am rapidly developing arthritis too. I am so worried about it and wondering if there is anything I can do. Good luck with the DVD!
I have a pretty good daily practice, but I can’t do yoga at home. I’m lucky enough to have a space at work where I can get on my mat. But if Im trying to do it at home all of the above pulls me off my mat. I don’t know what it is about being home that makes me think I don’t have time for myself. It’s dumb. I think you did a great job staying on your mat as long as you did.
The teacher was really good. I was surprised. He couldn’t correct my posture, but other than that, it was pretty great.
We have “chair” yoga here. Pretty easy and you get a little workout. The chair is mostly for holding on to cause we are all pretty wobbly.
I am trying to get less wobbly myself.
