I’m sneaking around

November 18, 2010

It’s like I’m having an affair or something. Except I’m not married. Or having sex for that matter.

BUT DO NOT TELL. This is a SECRET.

Every morning I get up, get dressed, and take Goldie to spend they day with my Mom while I go to the office.

I don’t go to the office.

I go home and put on my sweats and make coffee and sit in my comfy chair and work at home.

Then at 5 pm, I put my work clothes back on, trying like mad to remember what I had on that morning, including tracking down all the jewelry I have taken off during the day. I get in the car and drive to my mom’s house and tell her I had a nice day at the office.

The day I forgot and dyed my hair on my lunch hour was a little sketchy, but Mom didn’t seem to notice. If she noticed, she didn’t say anything.

I’m doing it because my mom needs the dog. She has visitors sometimes, of course, but Goldie really helps her make it through the days when she is all alone.

And I can’t tell her I am working at home because she’d insist I not bring the dog over because she would want ME to be able to spend time with my dog.

It’s insanity, but it’s a good kind of insanity.

    Best. Daughter. Ever.

See? Now that is a special kind of LOVE. And well, love is insanity, sometimes…. right? xoxo

I guess you’re a good daughter… and Goldie is a good dog, so it’s all good!

You are the best daughter ever. 🙂

I have my moments. Other times, not so much.

    Dear Suebob,

Things like this are why I love you.

    Signed,

    A longtime fan

Aw. You have a really lucky dog to be loved so much. And you are a really lovely daughter for going to such lengths for your mother. I’m glad that Goldie is helping her.

Goldie has major fans. Our friend who cleans my mom’s house is heartbroken when Goldie isn’t there for her to pet. She actually lies down on the floor with Goldie and hugs her…but so do I.

That is the nicest thing I’ve read in days. Your mom is lucky to have you.

I only have to do it because my MOM is so nice that she’d insist I keep Goldie at home, even though she would miss her terribly. I need to clone my dog.

You’re sweet. Can’t you skip the dressing up part, though, and tell her your office changed the dress code? I wear jeans to work nearly every day…

I work with all the execs so it’s all fancy up in there. I mean, if I actually WENT there it would be fancy. LOL.

I think that’s one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard!

It is worth all the sneaking around LOL.

You should see me in traffic sometimes.

This is a really kind and generous thing that you’re doing. Stop trying to make me feel better about humankind.

I read this 3 times. I’m a little speechless. I can’t remember the last time I read about a gesture that is so amazingly kind. My cold, dead, heart is a little melted.

Blushing. If you knew how kind my mom is, it makes perfect sense. She would do it for me in a minute.

Well crud. I hit return too soon.

It is nice of you and nice of your mom. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about your family’s fantasticness. Thanks for writing about that!

And I was thinking I had a new reader, nonlin.

My family has our moments. Then at other times, like when that dude walked in front of my car while he was texting last night…oy. Not such niceness.
