Every time someone tells me that, I answer: well if I die tomorrow from eating sushi (or whatever) tonight, you be sure to say, I told you so at my funeral.

I have a cookbook called “Jane Brody’s Good Food: Living the High Carbohydrate Way” from the 80s. If you told someone now that you were on a high-carb diet, they would FREAK OUT.

If you like and it tastes good, it must be bad for you.

What is good for you today is poison tomorrow…just when you find something to like, they’ll suddenly say it is bad…

    Heh. I like this. 😉

But at least my favourite vegetable is OK, probably because there are still so many people who don’t know what kohlrabi is!

I love kohlrabi. But you have to get small ones, because the big ones are too woody to peel!

    Sushi is bad? Dammit!

Sushi will KILL you, don’t you know?

But it feels so good while it is doing it!

Funny. I just listed all the stuff I ate during the holidays. Your list looks healther. Even though someone told you NOT to eat any of it.

It has been the lifelong work of different people to tell me what not to eat…the carbs thing was a guy at a party, who went on for about 45 minutes about how I should not eat carbs…gah. The weird thing is that all these diet advisors are so self-assured, without a doubt in their minds that they know what is right and wrong to eat.

This probably falls under the general category of “white flour,” but I’m actually a little afraid of white Wonder bread. I had some in my refrigerator for over a year-and-a-half (it was left at my house by someone else–I don’t like it, so I never ate it), and it NEVER MOLDED. Not one speck. I was planning to keep it as long as it took to determine the half-life, but it got wet and turned into a bag of unmoldy mush. What kind of “food” NEVER molds?

On the other hand, maybe I should be eating it…those preservatives might be keeping ME young, too!

I bought some organic strawberries and they got moldy within about 18 hours. “Regular” strawberries never rotted. They shriveled, but did not mold…scary for sure.

i’m going to have to agree with brains. might not kill you, but is that reason enough to eat them?

    • January 6, 2011 09:06

I’m surprised no one said “BRAIIIIIIIIIIINS.”

I have never actually eaten brains, but pretty much every restaurant on my street has them on the menu, so I could if I wanted to.
