Table Topics via vlogging! Did you say you’re an area governor this year? I saw it on a comment thread, but it was closed by the time I read it. I am, too! Just did my first club visit tonight.

I thought for one thrilling moment we were in the same district and would see each other at governor training, but sadly, no. I am, however, proud of us for stepping up. How is your contest planning going?

Contest planning is going well, but think it’s going to be a challenge to get contestants. We’re doing Tall Tales, and people seem a little intimidated by that. I know I would be. Did you see that the International Conference is in Vegas in 2015?! I’m hoping to go.

Wait, we don’t HAVE to do Humor and Evaluations in Fall? Now I’m confused. I hate Tall Tales. For every good one, there are 10 really bad ones…people just don’t get it. I think we should have a presentation contest instead…just thinking. Yes, I plan on going to Vegas! Kuala Lumpur was a bit far for me.

I guess not? Each year our District leadership votes – usually it’s humorous, but this year by a slight majority they chose Tall Tales, so that’s what we all have to do. I’ve been in TM for 3 years, but someone told me they hadn’t done Tall Tales in about 7 years. Then for the second contest we alternate each year between evaluations and Table Topics. The way it was explained to me is that since the Fall contest doesn’t go past the District level, they can choose whatever they would like. So Tall Tales it is.
